March Madness

Hello Everyone,
It is March well the beginning of March and school is always quite crazy during this time of the spring semester. For me and those of us who are involved with C.A.R.E. get a personal stress reliever however. We get to play with puppies and dogs, in two hour shifts.

The most recent time I went to volunteer, there were about eleven puppies. Anna and I had a really fun time trying to get them to be playful and enjoy the outside. They were extremely scared about getting out of their kennels. However, they really wanted to be held and petted by us. Which I did not mind because they were so extremely cute. It is nice to be able to volunteer; however, we are having problems with the organization with trying to find times for the three of us to volunteer and get our hours for the semester in. There are so many people that want to volunteer at C.A.R.E. that there are barely ever any time slots that work for us...since we cant go and play with puppies all day, instead of going to school. (which I would not mind right about now when midterms are upon us).

For this month we have planned the event Dog Treat Mania. Through this project the three of us will be making dog treats and some people treats as well that are healthy. This gives us a way to but theoretical smiles on the dogs faces and possibly make some money in the process. We will be completing this activity this weekend and it should be a really fun time.

Just a reminder that in April we will be hosting a Dollar Dog Dinner; hopefully, out on Sunderland field. The dinner will be a fun way for the Drury Campus to get engaged with our project and show their support for the no-kill shelter in Springfield, and for animal awareness in general. We do not have all the logistics figured out as late, but hopefully we will be able to shed light on any of the questions you might have when we get closer to April.

Until next time.....Sarah Nemeth
